The ridges on the 8-braided PE line are very small, making the line smooth and elegant. This is a very important factor. The smoother the line, the smoother the jerk, and the smoother the overall action.
PE fishing line does not hold up well when subjected to excessive heat generated from line friction. This smooth line generates very little friction against line guides. This feature is important when you fight with big fish.
The 8-braided line maintains minimal line expansion underwater. Since there is less air between the 8 braided line than with the 4-braided line, the line sinks faster due to less swelling of the line when in the water. This helps in minimizing jig weight as well as preventing other problems such as the formation of twists and tangles, and weakness in the line.
