The Giant Mekong Catfish has the honour of holding the official world record for largest fresh water fish ever captured. Caught in Thailand in 2005, it weighted 646 lbs. and was over nine feet long. This freshwater fish lives in the Mekong river, which flows from China to southeast Asia, all the way down to Thailand and Cambodia.
