Hi fellow anglers,
please forgive me for my lack of ability to speak and write Thai. I rekindled my passion for fishing in 2008 to 2010 when I was lucky enough to live in your great country with your amazing fish. Your ปลาบึก are so much fun to catch and so strong. I have always been fascinated with sharks and always wanted to catch them. While living in Phuket I could not find anywhere to catch them unfortunately. It was difficult to catch any fish in the sea around Phuket. I used to sometimes travel to Bangkok to catch the ปลาบึก. Phuket used to have some Amazon red tail catfish which were very strong for their size. They are brilliant fish to catch.
In 2013 I travelled to Florida where I caught some sharks for the first time. In December last year I travelled to Florida again and this time I caught my biggest sharks to date. A 9ft 6 inch (2.9 metres) Dusky shark from the beach after kayaking a bait out. 2 nights later I caught another one of about 9 feet.
I know you are love your fishing as much as I do so I wanted to share the pictures. The shape of these sharks is very similar to the ปลาบึก and they are strong like them but they get far bigger. Maybe 250kg for this one. A few days later one of nearly 10ft 11 inches (3.3 metres) was caught.
Great job.. You can share your technique, fishing equipment that you use, the place you caught the big one, and post your video. I'll follow up with your catch.
Please show me for the rod & reel for your big game ??? ...
Well for this shark I used my Makaira 80W reel with 250lb braid and 200lb mono topshot. The rod is an 80lb shark rod made by a company called Half Hitch.
The sharks were caught near Pensacola, Florida. A very beautiful place.
